The client of this North Vancouver home wished to expand their cramped galley kitchen into the existing carport. The new kitchen is more than double its original size. A generous peninsula provides counter seating for the family and guests while the modified the stair entry provides storage, a desk, and cabinets for the dining area. This stair wall that once separated the kitchen from the living and dining area has a generous opening to the living area. An unused fireplace that once separated the living area from the dining room was removed increasing the usable space on the first level and giving the new main level an expansive sense of space. Warm cherry cabinetry compliments the existing furniture and wood used throughout the house.
